Description
A homeowners’ association has hired us to restore their tennis court. The problems they’ve described to us are a lack of drainage and mold growth across almost the entire surface.
Features
A porous concrete surface that has lost its drainage capacity, located on a floor slab.
The project consisted of
Many tests were conducted to address the two most visible problems. To eliminate root fungi, we first tried a herbicide-type chemical; although it eliminated the fungi, it did not eradicate them at the root, so they reappeared shortly thereafter. We then tried a pure liquid disinfectant, which produced the desired results.
To ensure effective disinfection while also improving drainage, we thoroughly cleaned the court. Once this was completed, in the areas where water runoff could not be improved—and since we would be applying a coat of paint that would impede drainage—we built channels using porous concrete to ensure the surface would dry quickly.
