WHAT IS PICKLEBALL?
It is a racket sport played with a lightweight racket and a perforated ball similar to a Wiffle Ball (a smaller version of a baseball). It was created in the summer of 1965 by the Pritchard family in the United States, when, lacking the equipment to play badminton, they improvised the game using ping-pong paddles and a ball with holes. And do you know where the name comes from? It’s said to be derived from the Pritchards’ dog, named “Pickles.” Pickleball was born, and by 1967, the first court for this new sport had already been built.
